OUR COMMITTEE
The People Who Make Our Team Amazing...

Natalie Khoury
Captain Nat
After stints as Social Media Goddess and Seagods Secretary, Nat is back as our captain for 2021.
Why did you join the Seagods?
I was told how great a community the Seagods were. They liked to train hard but play harder.
What is the best thing about the team?
Everyone is so open and accepting. We all have our little quirks, and we all blend and relate to each other because of that.

Eliza Man
Social Media Goddess
She's back for a second year managing our social media accounts - anything for the gram!
Why did you join the Seagods?
I gatecrashed their annual junk party a few years ago and everyone made me feel so welcome that I joined the next season!
What do you love about the Seagods?
No matter how tough the training is or how cold it is during the winter months, the banter and team spirit is so worth it. Seagods are such a huge part of my Hong Kong family.

Amy De Vera
Sponsorship goddess
When Amy isn't wowing us with her splits, ADV is busy charming our current and potential sponsors.
Why did you join Seagods?
"There is something really special about the Seagods ethos. Since day 1, I immediately felt so comfortable and instantly knew that this is my team."
Best memory with the team?
"Stanley Main Race 2019, the Red boat (Team A) was unfortunately disqualified due to an accident of lane crossing. Organizers mentioned that we still have a chance to win the championship by swapping our paddlers, having Team A take the other boat spot. Except that it was never an option for the team especially the Captain, Red boat cheered the other Seagods boats all the way. From that day on, I knew that I have chosen the right team and culture. Apart from teaching me the value of sportsmanship, Seagods gave me a living example of what real team solidarity is. And I will never forget that moment."

David Smalley
Sponsorship
As well as keeping us in time on the boat, Smalley is one of the three sponsorship musketeers. Smalley sweet talks local businesses to provide us with great deals and keep the club well funded.
Why did you join the Seagods?
I went to circuit training pre-season as I was encouraged by a colleague. "You'll have fun and get fit," they said. Had no idea it was a dragonboat team until 3 weeks later when they asked me to join as they would start water training soon. "Water training? Ahh I can't really swim that well." They laughed, I laughed, they laughed more, then someone told me we would be training in a boat. "Rowing," I said. I laughed, they didn't. 6 years later I'm still on the team.
What is the best thing about Seagods?
It's family, pure and simple. We paddle hard, we party hard. We win together, we lose together. If you ever need anything, message our group and it's sorted. Need help moving, looking after your child, drowning your sorrows, celebrating a birthday, a holiday buddy, people to hike with, people to do nothing with, Seagods will be there. If it wasn't for this team, I would have left Hong Kong a long time ago, so thank god for it!
